I spend a lot of time in south Brittany, France, and one of my favourite places there is the lovely little town of Carnac and its beach. But until April of 2025, I had never come across the ice cream seller with his colourful tricycle before. There was hardly anyone on the beach that morning, and that's where this painting had started. I wanted to capture that early morning tranquility and very subtle activity of that scene, and the fleeting moments of life by the shore.
